NCERT Stands for National Council of Education Research and Training. This was established in 1961. The Government of India took this initiative to assist and advise the Central and State Governments on policies regarding the quality improvement in school education. NCERT operates from the 8 most important regions of our country. Those are listed below.

The logo is significant because it was taken from an excavation site at Raichur, Karnataka, a 3rd century BC Ashoka dynastic remains. 

Objectives Of NCERT

NCERT strives to regulate the educational system of the country. There are a few objectives that NCERT wants to follow throughout.

  • They try to provide basic childhood education.
  • NCERT promotes girl child education.
  • Facilitates value educating.
  • Also, NCERT tries teachers training at large.
  • NCERT tries to universalise fundamental education.
  • To enhance the beliefs and awareness of learners

  • They try to enforce a nationwide framework of the curriculum.

NCERT Programs

NCERT organises and encourages workshops and training programs that involve the National Institute of Education(NIE) and Regional Institute of Education(RIE). These organisations or institutions strive to help the backward and rural areas by providing them with basic education. The programs run by NCERT are:

●    AIES

To gather, compile and distribute information regarding overall growth of educational standards provided by schools nationwide. This is conducted by NCERT, the survey namely, All India Educational Surveys,  conducts surveys every year to review the number of enrolments, incentive schemes, teachers training programs etc which helps in developing educational facilities in India.

●    National Talent search examination

NCERT conducts an Examination Nationally. Students Pursuing after a certain Cut off gets their scholarship. The Cut Off amount varies every year according to the number of students clearing the cut-off. Students, pursuing courses in science and social science up to doctoral level and even in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree are offered scholarships under this scheme.

●    All India School Education Survey

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), obtains, compiles and disseminates information contemplating the overall improvement of the country in the area of school schooling. NCERT Makes the entire survey to guarantee the fundamental inputs to cultivate educational plans at micro and macro-level. This helps to regulate the improvement of numerous educational schemes of the Central and State Governments

●    Teacher Innovation Award

NCERT got a great scheme to ensure the best education quality. They do this by taking write-ups from teachers. Write-ups on the betterment of the education system, Teaching Technique. Syllabus update etc. The best Suggestions get nominated and implemented phase by phase and the respective teachers are awarded prizes.

●    Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition

To let all the young minds pursue science, NCERT conducts this exhibition every year. Students try to showcase their innovations in science and mathematics. Also, they work on technology. This is a national platform for students who aspire to create something. The basic idea is to encourage students to find out the everyday use of science, maths and technology in their daily lives.

 NCERT Books

NCERT publishes books that are refereed by CBSE or central board of secondary education, as their textbooks. These books are available from class 1 to 12, obviously with few exceptions. 14 states have adopted the NCERT textbooks, for 19 school boards. These textbooks can be downloaded online.
