This process is also called the dry process, as it directly involves natural drying sources. Once the beans are completely free from moisture, they are fed into an automated roasting machine.

In the wet process, the coffee beans are fermented inside massive water tanks for 12–48 hours. This fermentation process involves the removal of the pulp from the seed and thorough washing of the seed to get the coffee bean. This bean is further dried to remove any moisture from the seed.

Types of Roasting Methods used by Speciality Coffee Roasters:

Medium Roast: If you desire a coffee cup with a balanced flavour lying between the original green coffee beans and dark roasted beans, this roast is for you. Medium roast balances between light roast and dark roast as both differ in acidity levels. The resulting brew from medium roasting has a chocolaty, nutty, and caramelised flavour with a balance between bitter and sweet spectrum.

Dark Roast: If you feel more energised with a strong coffee cup and only a dark cup of coffee can save your day, this roast is only for you. Specialty coffee roasters installed in the coffee shops and outlets use the Dark roasting method to provide an intense coffee flavour. In Dark roasting, the coffee bean is roasted for a longer duration. This reduces the acidity of the bean and gives it a deep brown and black colour with an oily and glossy surface. After the dark roasting process, the resulting coffee tastes smoky and carries a bittersweet flavour.
