If your parents or grandparents had businesses of their own or were open-minded to having a business of their own, the chances are that you will inherit some of their enthusiasm towards business.
There are several factors that contribute towards the making of an entrepreneur, and your genes are only one of those factors. Your personality type, passion, goals in life, education, finances, etc. etc., all have a role in determining if you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur.
In this article, I’m going to discuss certain personality traits that make an entrepreneur more rather than genes. For gene and biology-related articles, feel free to look at something else.
Here are sure signs that you have entrepreneurship in your genes:
You are passionate about starting a business.
Being passionate about starting a business is the first thing that you should have as an entrepreneur, in my opinion.
Without passion, you won’t be able to work for hours on end to meet a deadline.
Passion for doing something new or improving something will be the thing that pushes you to become an entrepreneur.
All entrepreneurs are passionate about their business. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an entrepreneur that isn’t passionate about what and why they are doing what they do.
Working a full-time job doesn’t feel right.
Now, this sign is quite common for most entrepreneurs.
While some entrepreneurs might have had a great time at their job, there would always be something unsatisfying about having a regular job.
These entrepreneurs might have felt that they were using their limited time to build someone else’s dream.
Some people might have issues with the way an organization is structured and the standard operating procedures that they would have to follow.
In large organizations, there tends to be a long process to get anything done. Entrepreneurs feel that they could do things much more efficiently and faster if they just carved out their own way to get things done.
You focus on getting things done instead of putting in the time.
Successful entrepreneurs are focused on getting results instead of spending time doing a particular activity.
Entrepreneurs only get paid when they get things done. Traditional employees, on the other hand, get paid at the end of the month.
If entrepreneurs want to make money, they’re going to have to work for it and get the job done. Excuses and half efforts are not going to get them a paycheck.
All these things inspire entrepreneurs to be goal-oriented. If they can get a task done in 3 hours instead of 9, they’ll do just that. And use the remaining time to get something else done. As an entrepreneur, you’ll never run out of things that you need to take care of.
You have superb people skills.
Most successful entrepreneurs have exceptional people skills. They need them on a daily basis.
Even if you’re a solopreneur, you’re still going to have to come in contact with other people. Whether it’s your clients or your suppliers, have great people skills will make your life a lot more enjoyable.
You would want to make sure that your customers and online audiences are well taken care of. As an entrepreneur, you might even want to invest in a free live chat app for websites to facilitate your customers even more.
But what exactly are people skills, and where do you get them from?
Well, people skills help you deal with people. To get these people skills, you need to do two things. Observe and practice.
To develop your people skills, you will need to put yourself in the other person’s position and try to understand how they feel and what they would like to hear from you.
Naturally, you will have some difficulty, but over time you’ll have a strong grasp on the psychology of the people you usually deal with.
Superb people skills will help you get better deals and look more empathetic in front of an audience.
All you need to do is care and make a slight effort. Most people won’t make this effort, so if you do, you’ll stand out, and in a really great way too.
You are great at planning.
Successful entrepreneurs are great planners. They are able to map out things in their minds in a way that allows other people to understand exactly what they expect from them.
Planning should be something that comes naturally to you. As a child, you were the one that used to plan things far in advance — daydreaming about the things that you would do.
While not entrepreneurs are the same and their styles of conducting business are equally dissimilar, you will find a difference in planning between different entrepreneurs.
Some entrepreneurs will plan things for hours and days before taking a step while others can launch entire companies and businesses after 20 minutes of brainstorming.
You don’t like sitting around.
A good chunk of entrepreneurs are people who love to stay busy. Working for long hours means nothing to them if they are enjoying themselves.
Entrepreneurs are the ones who find ways to improve things and processes. Most successful entrepreneurs observed something that could be improved or something that people needed by wasn’t really sold by anyone.
These observant souls went on to take advantage of this opportunity, and others like it.
Once an entrepreneur successfully launches one business, there is something inside of him that compels him to start another one. These entrepreneurs love to learn new things and keep themselves up to date with the latest developments.
Even if these entrepreneurs aren’t starting a new business, they’ll be spending their time learning a new skill. In some cases, that new skill won’t even help them in their business. But their quest for constant improvement gets the better of them.
Conclusion:
If you want to become a super successful entrepreneur, you’re going to need a lot more than your genes. Without hard work, effort, and dedication to build a business, you will have limited amounts of success, if any.
Entrepreneurship is a fun and rewarding experience that I feel everyone should experience and experiment with at least once in their lives.
Having a family background in entrepreneurship and business will obviously be a significant advantage, but it’s not the only thing that will help make you a success story.
