Tingling or Numbness –

This is common and usually subsides over time.

Medical Instructions –

These instructions generally revolve around taking care of drains and surgical site, taking medications to apply on specific areas or take orally, and warning signs to keep tabs on at the surgical site or general health. When to Call a Doctor?

– When you experience fever higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit

– Observe excessive swelling or bleeding.

Recovery Time

The initial wound healing may take anywhere between 10 to 14 days. Clips / sutures are removed as and when the doctor finds it appropriate. Most patients can resume work and normal activity after 10-14 days.

Public Appearance

You will look presentable to the public after recovery. However, healing will continue for several weeks thereafter. It takes time for the swelling to dissolve and incision lines to fade and refine. Complete recovery will take several months. You may use good quality cosmetics to camouflage any bruising.

Caring for the Surgical Site after Surgery

It is crucial that you follow your physician’s instructions to ensure the success of your surgery. Surgical incisions should not be subjected to any of the following at the time of healing:

– Excessive force

– Swelling

– Abrasion

– Motion It is important to keep your head elevated after surgery. This helps alleviate swelling. Also avoid performing vigorous physical activities until your surgeon give you a clean chit. Avoid using ice or heat on the surgical site without consulting your surgeon.
