Project management skills in Rummy? We know it sounds odd and equally surprising but yes, applying a few project management skills to Rummy makes you a better, disciplined player.

First things first. Rummy is a game of skill. Of course, you need good luck to receive proper cards, but the luck factor stops there. The skill determines the winner and that doesn’t happen in a single day. A game of Rummy needs good practice and when you approach the game just like how the project manager approaches his project, you can win more.

Here are a few project management skills you can apply to a game of Rummy.

Schedule management

The first and foremost thing is managing your time. We understand that the game is addictive, but you should stick to your own time and play the game. After all, the game is just entertainment. Just like a project manager who manages his schedule, make sure to come up with a particular time slot and the number of hours you want to play. Stick to the same to be a disciplined player.

Risk Management

Risk is always going to be there in any project. Every single project/game comes up with its own set of challenges and you should be mindful of the same. Apart from the risks involved in the game, you should be aware of the number of money spent on a particular game. Once again, the game is addictive, but it is in our hands to control the same. One should start small and only after winning a considerable amount of matches and gaining experience, they should get into bigger leagues. We know that the bigger leagues will provide more winning amount, but you should not end up losing more too.

Quality Management

The most important thing of all is the quality. Any project works well if and only the quality of the project is at least good. To attain good quality, one needs good practice. Similarly, it is not about how many games you had practiced getting into the official game but the quality of the practice. One must make sure to learn more during their practice as every single detail will come in handy during the game.

Decision Making

There will be times in project management where you will have to take tough calls and decisions. These decisions are important because they will impact the outcome of the project. Similarly, Rummy involves making tough decisions too. One such place where you can put the use of your skill is when you have to pick or play the card and in building the proper sequence. These are important because letting go of an important card could change the fate of the game.

Don’t make impulsive decisions

Talking more about the decisions, to be a responsible gamer, you should not make rummy your escape place. The game is just for entertainment and your decision to control the timing is very important here as everything involves money.

Being Flexible

Flexibility is one of the most important skills of a project manager. Not everything will go like the way we had planned. The duty of the project manager is to constantly evolve from the wrong decision he or she or they had made and to do well the next time. Similarly, you cannot win every single match you play. You will end up making mistakes, sometimes, tough ones, sometimes a blunder. However, it is all in your hand to learn from these mistakes to do well in the next game.

As a project manager, you will be managing a team full of strangers. They all have different qualities, and they belong to different communities as well. The most important thing here is to be kind and empathetic to them. In online rummy, your opponents will be from different places and it is your duty to talk to them kindly in the chat function.

Rummy has evolved over years and the competition is just too much these days. One must keep in mind to use these skills to stay ahead of the competition. Also, keep in mind that Rummy is just a game for entertainment, and one should see it in the same way.

While the game is all fun, one should not allow the game to control us as the game involves money too. At the end of the day, it is also about keeping your finances tight.
