  • Daily calcium intake: a woman’s diet during pregnancy affects her mouth and also the baby’s teeth, therefore one should have calcium regularly especially during these months. She can also take calcium supplements from the doctor.

X-rays are part of dental care as it shows whether one has problems with their gums, bones or teeth. It is a medical test that uses radiation to take a picture on film. Though radiation is harmful to one’s health if exposed too much, dental ones are safe for pregnant women. The dentist will cover you properly with a special apron and collar to protect the baby. Moreover, the radiation will be in small amounts and that too only in the mouth area. 

List of measures one should take to prevent dental problems are: –

  • A pregnant lady should brush her teeth twice a day with fluoride and floss once. Use a toothbrush that has soft bristles. Regular cleaning will keep the teeth and gums healthy and will remove plaque.
  • Some women cannot brush because they have a tendency to vomit. They should use antacids or make a mixture of 1 teaspoon baking soda in a cup of water. Rinsing helps to reduce the amount of acid present in the mouth. Antacids are the best medicines to neutralize stomach acid. 
  • Limit sweets intake especially during these 9 months. Have healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, protein and so on. As everyone knows that eating healthy food will give the baby proper nutrients and it will help the child to grow. 
  • Do not smoke and also try to stay away from people who smoke.
