Rest

When you rest, your cells regenerate. Unfortunately, your feet may hurt as you injured them. Getting as much rest as possible would let them heal. Not moving much would also prevent you from injuring yourself even more.

This does not mean that you should be inactive the whole day. Your mood would be affected and you would feel more lethargic.

Heat

Heat could alleviate what you’re feeling. The muscles in your feet may feel too tense. If you’re an athlete, this is a problem that is quite common. Be sure to take hot baths whenever you can – you would let your feet steam.

What would also help would be placing hot water bottles on the affected area. You can take things up a notch by placing an electric blanket on anywhere that is aching. It would create heat, and the fabric would insulate the space.

Just like heat would help, ice would do the trick as well. An ice pack would make the affected area feel numb. When placing ice, you should not keep it on the spot for continuous periods. Once every 15 minutes would be fine.

Shoes

When dealing with foot pain, you should be very careful about the type of shoes you’ll be wearing. If they are too small, you’d be in a world of pain.

Most people with aches in their feet have pulled some sort of ligament or muscle. The most common would be a plantar fasciitis issue. Thankfully, there are special shoes to deal with such pains – most plantar fasciitis shoes are open, have great support and don’t have any straps.

Speaking of support, something that you can add to provide extra support to your shoes would be heel supports. You can purchase them separately, and they would not be expensive at all.

Over the Counter Medication

Over-the-counter medication is not as strong as the prescription type – you don’t have to worry about getting hooked.

They would take the edge off. However, they wouldn’t completely rid of your discomfort. To do this, you’ll have to see a doctor and get the prescription alternatives.

Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist can teach you how to deal with life with the discomfort. Of course, some therapists would be better than others. You’re advised to look around to find the best to work with. If you hurt your leg and are an athlete, a sports physio would be the most worth your time.
