How to Prep Your Skin for a Summer Wedding

Skin for a Summer Wedding

You are all set for a summer wedding and you want to look your very best on that day. Most probably you have started preparing for that big day, but have you started prepping your skin for a summer wedding? Summer months are problematic for skin, so a bride has to take extra care to ensure that her skin is glowing and problem free on her summer wedding day. There is no need to panic. Just keep the below mentioned points in your mind when preparing your skin care routine for your wedding and you will have a glowing skin on your D-day.

Start a Year in Advance

If your wedding date has been set a year in advance, it gives you ample time to prepare your skin for your wedding day. Most skin care experts recommend that a bride’s skin care routine should start at least a year before the D-day. However, if you do not have the luxury of time on your side, you need to start taking care of your skin as soon as your wedding date is set. The first step is to consult a dermatologist and prepare a skin care plan that addresses your skin issues. If you have blemishes, pigmentation, or acne scars, a dermatologist can recommend you a line of treatment. Since you are starting a year in advance, the treatment will be able to give you the results in time.

Create a Skin Care Routine for Your Face and Body

Come up with a skin care routine for your face and body after consultation with your dermatologist or beautician. A dermatologist or beautician can suggest the right type of moisturizer, face wash, body wash, and face packs for your skin type. Your face skin care routine must consist of exfoliation, wash, toner, and moisturizer. You should exfoliate your face at least twice a week to remove dead cells and bring a healthy glow to your skin. And the same goes for your body. Using the right moisturizer is also important, especially during the summer months. An oily moisturizer can block the pores and cause an acne breakout. This is especially true in summer, so you want to make sure that you are using the right moisturizer. Make sure that your skin care routine also include some face packs and body packs that you can apply in the comforts of your home. Finally, make sure that you stick with the routine.

Stay Out of the Sun

Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of fine lines, skin pigmentation, dry and patchy skin, and other skin problems. It is best to avoid the sun, especially the summer sun, if you want a healthy and glowing skin on your wedding day. When stepping out of the house, make sure that you have applied sunscreen on your face, neck, and other exposed area of your skin. A hat, umbrella, sunglasses, and full sleeved dress will ensure that your skin is properly protected from the sun.

Peels and Laser Treatment for Dead Cell Removal

Skin cells die on a regular basis so that new skin cells can take their place. The problem is that the dead skin cells do not just fall off your face or body. You have to exfoliate on a regular basis to remove the dead skin cells and expose the new ones. Six months prior to your wedding it is a good idea to go for peels or laser treatment to remove dead cells and help promote rejuvenation of healthy cells. Besides removing dead cells, these treatments also help treat wrinkles, uneven or dull skin tone, acne scars, blackheads, and acne. Since there are many types of laser and peel treatments available, you need to consult your dermatologist to recommend you a treatment that is right for your skin. Finally remember that the treatment should begin six months prior to your wedding and the last treatment should be no later than one month prior to your wedding.

Do Not Just Focus on Your Face- Pamper Your Whole Body

Just focusing on the face and neglecting the whole body is the wrong approach for preparing your skin for the wedding. Use a dry body brush to gently exfoliate before shower. Exfoliating will not only get rid of dead cells, but will also help open up the pores, remove toxins and dirt, and remove cellulite. After shower, remember to apply a light moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Couple of months before the wedding, go for spa treatments for the whole body to detoxify the skin. If monthly spa treatments are out of your reach, do not despair. You can find plenty of homemade spa treatments on the net. For example, you do not have to go to a spa to enjoy the benefits of milk bath. Just add few cups of milk, some essential oils, and honey to your bath water and see how supple and smooth your skin becomes after the bath.

No Amount of Beauty Treatments Can Replace Healthy Eating

The best way to prep your skin for a summer wedding is by starting to eat healthy. Stop eating oily food, junk food, spicy food, and alcohol, if you really want a glowing skin on your wedding day. For a glowing skin just make sure that you are eating fatty fish (mackerel, salmon, and herring), walnuts, avocados, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, red and yellow bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, dark chocolate, soy, carrots, and papaya. Green tea is a very powerful antioxidant that is also armed with anti-inflammatory properties. A cup of green tea every day will reduce acne breakouts, detoxify, and bring about a glow to your skin. It will also help you lose weight. A fruit detox diet is also a great way to get a glowing skin on your wedding day. It is also very effective in removing unwanted toxins, oils, and fat from your body.

Do Not Skip the Water

A minimum of eight glasses of water every day is essential for healthy skin. Water not only keeps the skin supple, but it also helps remove toxins from the body. So start making sure that you are drinking enough water. During the summer months, it becomes even more important that you drink enough water to prevent dry and unhealthy skin.

For hundred percent successful results you have to make sure that you stick with these points till the end. Finally, remember not to try any new product or skin care treatment a month before the wedding. You do not want to be dealing with some side effects just few days before the wedding. Best luck with your skin care routine for your summer wedding.
