The fact remains that if people love your updates, you can always get away with posting more. Although, here’re some guidelines I have put together based on some useful research into how often to post to social media.

Facebook – One or two posts per day

Instagram – One or maximum two posts per day

Instagram Stories – Ten to sixteen Stories per week

Twitter – Three to ten tweets per day

LinkedIn – One or two posts per day

Pinterest – From Five to ten times per day

Snapchat – From Five to 20 times per week

Connectd India — From 5 to 10 times per day 

What is the best time to post?

You can use tools from sites like, Search Engine Watch, and Social Media Today for compiled timing research. Here’s an overview of what I found.

Twitter – Between 1.00 to 3.00 pm weekdays

Facebook – Between 1.00 to 4.00 pm weekdays

LinkedIn – Between 7.00 to 8:30 am and 5.00 to 6.00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Tumblr – Between  7.00 to 10.00 pm weekdays and at 4.00 pm on Fridays

Instagram – 5.00 to 6.00 pm weekdays and at 8.00 pm on Mondays with a sweet spot at 6.00 pm

Pinterest – Between 2.00 to 4.00 pm and 8.00 to 11.00 pm weekdays with weekends being the best

Google+ –Between 9.00 to 11.00 am weekdays

Analyze, test, and perform 

Social media sharing is essentially a very individual, specific endeavor, and the more you post, the more you’ll discover which content, timing, and frequency is right for you. However, you can get help from a social media analytics tool. Although, all major social channels will have basic analytics built into the site itself; it’s easier to find this information from an all-encompassing dashboard.
