For all those who have a birthday during their quarantine, here are some ideas for a different and fun party. You’re ready? Take note!
- Happy Birthday poster in the garden. To celebrate a loved one’s birthday, simply drive home, put up a colorful banner in their yard or directly in front of their home, and give them a big celebratory surprise from your car while singing Happy Birthday.
- Parade of cars. Invite friends to join in the celebration to make a caravan of cars that passes by the birthday boy’s house with decorated cars, balloons and signs singing happy birthday when they arrive at the door.
- Send a birthday cake. If you can’t be there to celebrate together, send a cake or cupcakes as a special surprise.
- Send a card. The easiest way to show your love is with a card. If you don’t live close enough to your friend to drop one in their mailbox, send them an e-card.
- Make a happy birthday video. The only way to enhance a traditional birthday card is to make a video. You can use one of the many services that exist online or make your own video and send it to your friend. Ask your friends and family to also record their birthday wishes and edit them in the same video. It will be a gift you will never forget!
- Host a virtual birthday party at Zoom. Set up a Zoom meeting and invite all your friends at a certain time to celebrate together. Do you want to make things even more special? Date the birthday boy later and throw him a surprise party with all his friends and family by singing happy birthday as a group when your friend logs in.
- Host a Netflix party. If you love movies, schedule a virtual party to see a movie. Download the Netflix Party extension on Chrome, and you and your friends can watch the same Netflix movie at the same time. The extension features synchronized video playback so everyone’s screen will pause and resume at the same time. In addition, it has a chat room so you can share your comments about the movie.
- Send a special meal. A great way to support local businesses in these tough times is by delivery order. Pick a local restaurant or bakery and send something tasty to your friend for their birthday.
- Do a group training session at home. If you prefer active birthday parties, you can gather your friends for a training session. Many yoga studios, gyms, and trainers offer free workouts. Invite everyone to a Zoom session for a well-deserved post-workout brunch.
- Travel to a virtual museum with the birthday boy. Birthdays are the best time to learn something new. Museums, zoos and theme parks around the world are offering free virtual tours where you can view exhibits at the Louvre, the Vatican, the San Diego Zoo and much more from the comfort of your couch. Set up a group chat and navigate with your friends celebrating the birthday boy through the most incredible exhibitions in the world.
- Write him a song. If you are musically inclined, write a song to your friend and introduce it via video chat. If other friends are joining you, have everyone start a chat session with something they created for the birthday boy. It can be a song, a poem, a speech or a dance.
- Party with glam. Just because you’re celebrating your birthday at home doesn’t mean you have to do it in your pajamas. Create a virtual themed party and invite everyone to come dressed in Hollywood, rock ‘n’ roll, 90s, or dressed however they want. The options are endless!.
- Garlands and posters. Quarantine is an ideal time to use our creativity and do crafts. Decorate your house for your party!
- Party on the balconies. Prepare a list of songs with your favorite songs and have a great third party manufacturing on your balcony, terrace, or even from the windows celebrating with the whole neighborhood.
